To all club secretaries,

The committee of Norfolk Combined Youth Football League would like to extend our good wishes to all involved with football and the league at this difficult time. We hope you are all keeping your spirits up and we have been watching some of the brilliant videos some of the teams and clubs have posted online. We also thank all those who participated in the FIFA 20 competition.

We appreciate that you all want to know what we are going to do regarding completing this season of football and as clubs you will have received the communication from Norfolk FA regarding the wider picture and the decisions that needed to be made.

NCYFL were given two options by the FA as to how the season could be concluded. The FA have provided Leagues outside the National League System with two options to be considered:

  1. Competitions are brought to an immediate end with results expunged (i.e. without promotion or relegation occurring)
    2. League positions and promotions and relegations are resolved on a points per game calculation

These were shared within our previous league statements.

The committee had a discussion on what the best option for our league would be. We did not want to take the season away from the teams/players as one division had already concluded, and others were at varying stages of completion.

We also wanted to ensure that we achieved a fair outcome for clubs by our decision.

The committee concluded that option 2 was the best and fairest outcome for our league and that is what we put forward to Norfolk FA and what we will be implementing to conclude the league football part of the season.

The tables below set out the outcome of applying option 2, as per the guidelines given to us by The FA. Please note that where there is a tie in average points, both teams will be considered equal and treated as joint runners up.

The committee would still like the cup competitions to be concluded by still holding the cup finals. We believe this will be achievable but at a date at some point in the future when we are able to arrange these. There are still a number of unanswered questions with The FA on how this can be achieved.

We will keep clubs up to date with information as we receive it and are able to communicate this to you.

There will be further correspondence shortly on the league AGM and next season.

Kind regards,

Karen Ward
League Secretary
