On the 26th May 2017, League Officers, Harvey Newstead, Daniel Keeble and Tom Rampling, along with fellow Youth Council members and fellow referees Andy Moncur and Ben Woodruff, attended the Referees’ Association ‘Eve of Final Rally 2017! The event allowed attendees to interact with the FA Cup Final Match Officials (Anthony Taylor, Gary Beswick, Marc Perry, Bobby Madley and Adam Nunn). The attendees from Norfolk learnt the importance of the prestigious FA Cup Final for the Match Officials, as you are only allowed to officiate on the game once in your refereeing career. Before the main conference began, which included guest speaker Sir Trevor Brooking, a CPD session took place- ran by 4th Official Bobby Madley and reserve assistant referee Adam Nunn, The focus of the session was the ‘business’ of refereeing and being the best referee you can possibly be. The session inspired the five attendees from Norfolk to continue progressing forward in their respective refereeing careers. The session also focuses on understanding that there will be setbacks, in your careers, however it is important that you progress and move on from those setbacks. Overall the evening was an inspirational one, well run by the RA-FA members and the Referees’ Association and, all five of the attendees look forward to attending the event again, next year!
